Cutco knives are high-quality kitchen blades manufactured by a company located in Olean, NY, since 1949 and claim to have the lowest customer return rate of any company in the world.

Are Cutco knives good?

The answer to this question is a resounding yes. If you buy a Cutco knife and take care of it, you will never need another one in your lifetime.

Cutco knives are not cheap, but they are built to last. While there is a high price range for Cutco knives, I believe it’s worth the money because when you consider how long this knife will serve you before it needs to be replaced, the cost per year of use comes out to less than 25 cents!

What makes Cutco knives so popular?

There are many reasons, but the main one is the steel is more complex than any other knife on the market, which means it stays sharp through many uses without having to be sharpened. And Cutco’s proprietary blade angle makes cutting easier and faster with less pressure, so there’s less risk of injury.

What metal is used for making Cutco?

The steel used to manufacture Cutco knives is called 440A stainless steel. Cutco knife is a high carbon, molybdenum stainless steel that increases edge retention and makes the knife easier to sharpen than other knives in its price range.

What is the manufacturing process of Cutco Knives?

To make tough but flexible, wear-resistant knives, Cutco uses high-quality raw steel sheets of various thicknesses. Next, the blades are precision stamped out of stock steel in multiple steps (first heating at a high temperature of 2000F, then cooled at -120F and then heated again at 365F) under tight process controls to ensure that each knife meets exacting specifications.

After the blade blanks are stamped out, they undergo a multi-step deburring process that eliminates the small burrs on the inside edges of the blades left by stamping. And this process gives Cutco knives the hard, tough, corrosion-resistant, and edge holding properties

Next, each knife is precisely sharpened using state-of-the-art equipment and cutlery stones. To make it short, Cutco knives undergo about 25 steps from start to finish to make it super sharp, strong and long-lasting, before it’s considered good enough to be sold.

Cutco offers many different types of knives that include Slicing knives, Bread knives with smaller serrated edges that hook onto the crust of bread.  Cutco offers a knife for every job, including paring, slicing, chef’s, fillet, and many others.

Do chefs use Cutco knives?

Yes, they do. Many famous chefs use Cutco knives: Julia Child, Jacques Pepin, and James Beard, to name a few.

Are Cutco knife handles any good?

The handles are made from an acetal copolymer thermo-resin. These handles are high impact resistant and will never warp, crack or burn.

Cutco’s high-impact plastic handle has proven to be superior in durability for all purposes. This product is made for home use primarily, but they are often used by chefs, as we mentioned earlier.

How do you keep your Cutco knives sharp?

They will hold their edge for years and only need to be sharpened every few years. Sharpening is easy with an electric or hand sharpener, and Cutco will even sharpen their knives for you (for a small fee).

Why is Cutco knife’s price so high?

Cutco knives are priced higher than other knives but do not let the price scare you away. Cutco stands by its products and offers a lifetime warranty (with some exceptions). If you somehow break your knife, all you need to do is send it back to them for a replacement.

How to clean Cutco knives?

Cutco knives don’t hold on to dirt and grime as other knife brands do. However, it’s a good idea to wash your Cutco knives in dish detergent so that you can remove any food particles that may be stuck in the blades or handles.

The handles are also not dishwasher safe.

Are Cutco knives for everyone?

Not necessarily. If you spend more time cooking in the kitchen, want the best knife for kitchen, or don’t mind paying more for high-quality steel and a lifetime warranty, then Cutco knives are right for you. This investment will eventually pay off with its durability and its unparalleled warranty service.

If you’re the kind of person who is used to buying a new knife every few years or so and you have no problem sharpening that one yourself, then it is perfectly fine to buy any other reasonably priced knives. You also get to try out new brands from time to time.

Conclusion

We already know that Cutco knives are not for everyone, and I can say that better alternatives are always available either for the same price or even cheaper.

But it also depends on how you are going to use the knife. If you work in a kitchen and spend most of your time cooking, I would choose Cutco knives over other brands because they last longer and withstand harsh conditions such as heat or burns.

If you really like Cutco, then go for it; there is nothing wrong with their products except a higher price tag.

I hope this article has helped you in deciding whether or not Cutco knives are for you.
